The "Belt and Road" Service Trade Cooperation Conference and World Great Health Industry Development Conference was successfully held.

On the afternoon of September 14, 2024, the World Health Industry Development Conference, jointly hosted by the International Trade Centre of the United Nations and the China Association of Trade in Services (CATIS), was held at Hall 3A of Shougang International Convention and Exhibition Center, with support from the National Health Commission's National Health Development Research Center and organized by the Zhongguancun New Wisdom Health Management Research Institute. With the theme of "Exchange, Cooperation, and Win-Win," the conference gathered over 300 experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives from the health industry to discuss the development trends and cooperation opportunities in the health industry.

In his speech, Zhong Zeyu, Vice President and Secretary-General of CATIS, emphasized that the development of health management and the health industry should focus on the future, plan for the long term, and persevere. The soon-to-be-established Health Management and Health Industry Branch should play a bridging role, empowering the industries of medical examination, healthcare, nutrition, rehabilitation, and wellness, focusing on technological and product innovation in the field of health service trade, and improving the quality of health services.

 

Gan Ge, a researcher and deputy director of the National Health Development Research Center of the National Health Commission, pointed out that with the intensifying trend of aging and people's increasing concern for health issues, the demand for the health industry is growing exponentially. The connotation of the health industry is constantly expanding, extending from traditional medical services to modern health management. Additionally, the development of biotechnology, digital technology, and the application of health big data bring new opportunities for health management services.

 

Wu Liuxin, president of the Zhongguancun New Wisdom Health Management Research Institute, interpreted the Blue Paper on Health Management and Development of China's Health Industry. The report, consisting of five parts - a general report, special topics, regional chapters, survey chapters, and appendices, analyzed in depth the current status, existing problems, and future trends of China's health industry in the digital economy era, where new consumption and new industries converge and coexist, and proposed several countermeasures and suggestions.

 

Six experts - Yang Minghui, Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department of the PLA General Hospital; Jin Zhenyang, Executive Editor of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine's Traditional Chinese Medicine Big Data Cloud Platform; Wang Jing, Dean of the Beijing Research Institute of iFLYTEK Healthcare Technology Co., Ltd.; Fang Zhen, Executive Secretary-General of the Data Element Research Center of Xinhua News Agency's China Wealth Research Institute; Gao Junhong, Researcher at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences' Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion; and Qin Xunyun, President of Beijing Yao Medicine Hospital - delivered keynote speeches based on their professional practices, focusing on high-tech, high-efficiency, and high-quality digital and intelligent construction empowering the development of traditional medicine and the health industry, and creating "digital and intelligent Traditional Chinese Medicine."

 

In the high-level dialogue session, six guests discussed the theme of "accelerating the construction of health industry bases and creating new consumption scenarios for health," sharing insights on how to integrate resources, innovate models, and improve services, providing practical suggestions for the development of the health industry.

 

At the end of the conference, the Health Management and Health Industry Branch of CATIS was officially established. The branch aims to promote exchanges and cooperation in health management and the health industry, facilitating the healthy development of the industry. In the future, the branch will focus on conducting research on the theoretical policies, rules, and digital technology applications of health service trade, providing intellectual support for the development of China's health management and health industry trade; organizing relevant training to enhance the capacity-building of the talent pool; strengthening exchanges and cooperation with relevant domestic and foreign institutions to help domestic enterprises' health products and services "go global," expand international market channels, and enhance brand awareness and international influence.
